Description
Dr. Ambedkar asserted nearly a century ago that Dalits should never be politically led by non-Dalits and that only a Dalit leader could truly understand and address the issues of the Dalit community. He declared: “Institutions and individuals have no right to defend the interests of the Depressed Classes if they are not run by Untouchables.” This remains true even today. Non-Dalit leaders have shown little interest in addressing Dalit rights and have failed both morally and politically to lead them.
